HOP’s Ahmed Adenas added the Southern Counties Title 2014 to his record after beating Harlem Eubank (Brighton and Hove) in a tougth and rugged affair.
HOP Coach Colin Williams said, it was always going to be a tought one, we all new that, but Adenas put the pressure on Eubanks from the bell and controlled the bout from the centre of the ring dominating the action with fast flurrys of hard attacks.
The Nephew of Legendary boxer Chris Eubank trains out of the same boxing gym as Chris Eubanks sons. Harlem Eubank with a record of 19 bouts 16 wins, was a step up in level for the Sudanies born Portsmouth boxer.
However Ahmed Adenas was not fazed by the name or the record of his opponent. HOP’s Sudanese coach Sammi Elslamanabi commented, the Sudanese community are very proud of both Ahmed and Walid Adenas and are happy they are representing the city in the sport of boxing and bringing titles home to Portsmouth.
Adenas started boxing at the Heart of Portsmouth Boxing Academy 3 years ago and has already knocked up an impressive record of 19 bouts won 13. Ahmed Adenas also won the Haringey Cup Gold Medal in June last year after beating 3 opponents in 3 days. Ahmed’s younger brother Walid Adenas is also doing very well in the sport.
Last season he reached the semi final of the England Boxing National junior championships and lost on a split decision of the judges and that was after beating the reigning Tri Nations Champion in the quarter final.
HOP Head Coach “Q” Shillingford said – I remember the two boxers first joining the club. They were quiet and reserved but with time have both come out of their shells.
The hours they have put into the gym working with all the HOP coaches doing strength and conditioning , running , gym and sparring is all beginning to show. Ahmed and Walid Adenas are a great example to the youth of today and what can be achieved through hard work and dedication. Heart of Portsmouth boxing Academy are proud to have these two young men in the Academy and be able to watch them go from strength to strength.
