Heart of Portsmouth rising star moved up to another level this weekend, with a sensational 2nd round Knockout of The Eastern Counties Champion Ben Evans.
On Saturday 18th October 2014, Ahmed Adenas took less than two rounds to sound out a warning, as he knocked out the Eastern Counties Champion with a devastating rear hand hook.
Even in the first round Evans looked ill at ease with the fast attacking Portsmouth boxer, as he switched from head to body. The taller Evans tried to keep the swarming Adenas at bay, but to no avail. Early in the second round, Adenas put in a sustained attack throwing jabs and right hand hooks. Adenas put in a five punch sustained attack finishing with a heavy rear hand hook which landed clean on the chin of Ben Evans and brought the bout to a sudden end.
Hop Head Coach of senior boxers Colin Williams said – I am very proud of Ahmed, he always gives his all in training and in competition. He is now in the Semi Final stage on the England Championships which is all down to his hard work and dedication. Ahmed Adenas is keeping beeping PORSTMOUTH Boxing on the map. Sudanese Hop Coach Sami Elslamanabi was very pleased with Adenas performance and commented, Adenas proved tonight he has moved up to the next level, we are all very proud of him.
HOP had another early night as Tom Ward smashed his way to a first round demolition job bout against Harry Maggs from Titchfield Boxing Club.
Ward came out blasting from the bell, looking to win every round, but a combination of quick fire jabs and a heavy rear hand to the body had the Titchfield opponent on the ropes and unable to continue.
Ward is now through to the Southern Counties final of the England Boxing Junior Novices Championships’.
HOP Coach Colin Brown said – Tom Ward boxed to instructions, he kept a tight guard and straight punches, to head and body, Tom trains very hard in the gym and we are very proud of him.
Head Coach “Q” Shillingford commented – This has been a very good weekend for HOP, Bridet performed well in Finland at the Tammer Tournament representing GB.
Both Adenas and Ward have done very well in National Championship rounds. We must all keep focused and work hard.
