H.O.P’s Jack Featherstone put in another top draw performance in what was always going to be a close bout, the very strong and experienced Sam Naoakes for Westree relentlessly pushed forward throwing from head to body and the stylish featherstone used his boxing skills to score on the counter attacks. In the third round however Featherstone got caught clean on two occasions and the bout was stopped with just seconds remaining on the clock. Featherstone can be proud of his performance.
Another punch for punch and blow for blow happened against the county’s two hot prospects, Louis Edmundson (Golden Ring ABC) and HOP’s Mateusz Ziokowski, after four hard fought rounds, Edmundson got the nod from the judges, and again kept Ziolkowski from moving forward into the next round.
H.O.P Junior Coach Paul Kapnisi was very happy with the boxer’s performance at the weekend and said they all boxed to instructions and did themselves and the club proud.
H.O.P Boss – “Q” Shillingford said all boxers did very well against good opposition, these championships are very tough and getting out of Southern Counties Region is an ordeal in itself.
Featherstone and Ziolkowski will come back stronger from there losses in the championships, it’s all a learning curve for these talented lads.
Ben Bendle and Tom Johnson will be up against it, as we face London ABA but that is what we expect at this level. They will be ready.
