Defending Southern Counties Elite Heavyweight Champion and H.O.P Team Captain Gregory Bridét had too much for the brave GB Development boxer Danny Williams (Woking ABC). The seasoned Bridét put in a sharp performance throwing punches at all angles, to run out a winner after a non stop assault in the third round. Also sounding out a clear warning to the nations, Elite, Heavyweights competing in this year’s national ABA championship.
Haringey Cup Gold Medalist, H.O.P Cruiserweight Biola Kudus had it all to do as he faced the rated and very experienced Ed Lawrence (Mourscombe ABC). Kudus used his height and reach advantage very well as he kept the non stop dangerous attacks From Lawrence at bay with a sharp hard jab and fast short attacks, causing his opponent frustration. This is only Kudus 15th bout.
HOP Senior boxers coach Colin Williams was very pleased with both boxers performance and said, to see Greg take on and beat another highly rated boxer and then to see Biola cause a major upset in the championships by winning the Southern Counties Title at the first attempt is fantastic and well deserved. Both boxers have trained really hard for this event and proved they are worthy of the Elite status.
H.O.P Coach Jason Evans commented the lads did what they were trained to do, they have it tough in the gym, and we work them very hard and all there hard work has paid off, we are all very proud of them both.
H.O.P Boss “Q” Shillingford said, Both Kudus and Bridet boxed very well and put in top performances. Southern Counties now face Home Counties ABA on Saturday 23rd March 2013, at the Senior ABA Quarter Finals at Turners Academy in Camberley:
