Ebonie Jones winning the best Boxer TrophyHeart of Portsmouth Boxing Academy took two boxers to Glasgow, Scotland to compete last weekend. ABA National Female Boxing Champion Ebonie Jones picked up the Best Boxer Trophy, as she clocked her bout record to 7 bouts with 6 wins and England International and this season’s Southern Counties JABA Champion Ben Bendle put in a solid performance against the Scottish Western District Boxing Champion Dennis Broadhurst (Doonhammesr ABC).

Jones boxed excellent using her lightning hand speed and quick reaction to out box her tough and very gutsy opponent and Scottish Female Champion, Vicki Glover from the host club, Duries ABC, in the first round. Jones then moved in close in the last round demonstrating good head to body combination punching to win her a unanimous decision of the judges.

This years Southern Counties JABA Champion Ben Bendle had it all to do as he took on the talented Dennis Broadhurst (Doonhammers ABC) abc) after a very fast paced first round with both boxers defending well, Bendle began to open up to the body and landed some very accurate and hurtful body shots. A convincing third round seemed to have clinched the victory for the H.O.P boxer however the judges gave it to the Scottish champion on a split decision.

Ebonies night just got better when she was then awarded the best boxer of the night trophy by the Scottish judges at the boxing show.

H.O.P Boxing Coaches “Q” Shillingford and Colin Williams were very disappointed in the decision for Bendle, however were very proud of both boxers performance on the night.
