The England Boxing Junior Championship regional final took place on Saturday 28th February 2015.

HOP had 4 boxers entered 3 Juniors Boxers (Bailey Fowler, Tom Ward and Tyler Hall and one cadet boxers (Joe Coultas).   All boxers had trained over the Christmas period for their championship assault and performed very well at the regional championship final.

Bailey Fowler‘s opponent pulled out due to injury giving Bailey a bye to the quarter final stage of the championship.

Tyler Hall put in a top performance against Jake Thompson (Moore Valley Boxing Club).  The bout was very close with both boxers landing heavy blows to the head and body.   Tyler Hall lost his bout on a very tight split decision of the judges.

Next on was Tom Ward who had moved up a weight at the last minute to take on Billy King (Guildford Boxing Club).   Tom Ward as usual gave his all in the contest and lost on a point’s decision of the judges.

HOP Cadet Boxer – Joe Coultas gave all to come out as Southern Counties Champion after an all guns blazing assault on his opponent to win by a unanimous decision of the judges.

HOP’s Junior head coach, Paul Kapnisi said – “Tyler was very unlucky not to get the decision but will come back stronger from the result.  I think we put Tom Ward in at the wrong weight and we learnt from our mistakes.   Joe gave his all and Bailey is also through to the next round.   The boxers all performed well and I am proud of them all.”

HOP Coach Colin Brown, said  “we are all training hard and looking forward to the next round.”
