Ben ‘The Bull’ Bendle selected to box for England v Ireland

H.O.P’s England International boxer Ben “The Bull” Bendle delivered a sensational win for his country as the Bull went head to head with 5 times Irish Champion Cormac Long (Rathkeale Boxing Club) on the annual England v Ireland team match on Friday 7th March 2014 at  The Hampshire Court Hotel in Basingstoke, Hampshire.

Bendle who won the JABA National title last year and was a silver medalist in the Tri Nations Boxing Championship 2013, has moved up a weight class to the light heavyweight division (81kg).  Bendle performance in this year’s national final put him up for another International selection in which he won in fine style representing his country.

After a very close first round the Heart of Portsmouth light heavyweight hitter, stepped up the tempo as he kept the Irish champion under sustained pressure with the feet, controlling the centre of the ring whilst using his boxing skills to out box and out maneuver his very experienced and capable opponent. Bendle put in a tremendous last round onslaught of sustained attacks to clinch the contest by a majority vote of the judges.

Bendle has now also been selected for a GB Emerging Talent weekend at the home of GB Boxing in Sheffield, next month.
