Heart of Portsmouth Boxing Academy boxer Harry Brown (St Edmunds School) has won the Southern Counties title (3×2 min rounds) with only one round of boxing even thou he has competed twice in two weeks to win the title.
To claim the Hampshire title Brown boxed Kieran Smith (Moneyfields ABC) this bout was stopped in the first round as Brown opened up to the head and body form the bell. The bout was stopped within a minute of the first round as Brown proved to strong and experienced for his opponent. For the Southern Counties Final Harry “Bomber” Brown faced Ben Sanderson (Rye Town ABC). Brown’s fast feet and lightning hand speed proved too much for the game Sanderson, as he tried to weather the storm. But Brown’s accuracy to the head and body within the sustained attack was well executed and the bout was stopped within 30 seconds of the first round.
Harry “Bomber” Brown is now through to the National Schoolboy quarter final, which he has already started preparing for.
Head coach of the HOP junior boxers Paul Kapnisi praised Brown’s performance and his dedication to training in and out of the gym. Harry works very hard in the gym and all his dedication and commitment to his training; he is now reaping the benefits.
HOP Boss “Q” Shillingford also commented on Harry Browns success, Harry Brown who started boxing at the age of seven years old through the GB Boxing Awards programme at the Heart of Portsmouth Boxing Academy. Brown has a great future ahead of him in boxing; he has all the makings of a champion. “Q” also heaped praise Harry’s dad, HOP Coach Colin Brown: Colin Brown is a major asset to the club; he is always there for all the boxers and at all the sessions. He runs HOP Boxers every Friday evening as part of there conditioning training, as well as drives around the country with lots of boxers to different shows. Colin Brown involvement in Heart of Portsmouth Boxing Academy is very important and is part of a team that makes the heart of Portsmouth beat.
