H.O.P’s Boxer Ben “The Bull” Bendle will be looking to defend his national title in this years England Boxing Youth Championship Semi Final stage. England International Bendle who won the middleweight (75kg) national title last year in style and went on to win a silver medal in last years Tri nations final is in good shape, according to HOP’s coach Jason Evans. Ben trains very hard his running, strength and conditioning, gym work, and sparring have been excellent, he is fit sharp and ready.
England International Bendle did not compete at the Quarter final stage as his opponent pulled out form the event, he will be looking to impress in front of his home crowd as Heart of Portsmouth Boxing Academy are once again hosting this years national semi final – south on Saturday 15th February 2014 at the Charter Sports Centre, Greetham Street PO5 4HL. Some of the best boxers in the country will be in action as the best of the south of England including, London, Home Counties, Eastern and Western Counties meet in the England Boxing Semi Final –South.
HOP Boss “Q” Shillingford MBE added – HOP is once again honored to be hosting the event on behalf of the Hampshire, Southern Counties and England Boxing. There will be some very exciting bouts as the best of the south of England go toe to toe to see who goes through to the England Youth Championship – Final 2014. It is an added bonus that HOP’s Ben Bendle is boxing and I am sure the local crowd will all be behind him to win. Bendle has moved up a weight from last year now boxing at 81kg class will face Jack Bannister (Baker Street ABC). Bannister was a runner up in the finals last year at 81kg. This will be a tough one for Ben but all the hard work has been done. Ben “The Bull” Bendle will not disappoint.
