Heart of Portsmouth Boxing Academy were celebrating this weekend after Last Year Schoolboy Champion (Class A) Lloyd Farrington won his second Southern Counties Title in this year’s National Schoolboy Championship (Class B).
In the Hampshire Championship final Farrington beat Jayson Prior (Poseidon boxing club). Then in the Southern Counties Final Farrington took on the highly regarded Sammi Khan (Guildford Boxing Club). After three rounds of nonstop action farrington was awarded a well-deserved points win. Farrington is now at the pre quarter final stage of the National event taking place in Camberley on Saturday 6th May. Farrington will take on the Western Counties Champion Gabriel Nieckarz (Devonport Boxing Club).
HOP head coach “Q” Shillingford said HOP are very pleases with Farrington. Lloyd Farrington won the Schoolboy National Title class A last year and since then he has gone from strength to strength. Since winning the title, Farrigton has been invited and attended a few England talent and squad camps.
Farrington trains very hard in and out of the gym, putting in the extra miles and fitness training to ensure he is on top of his game for his competition.
Dave Johnston and the junior coaching team have all been working hard with the three youngsters preparing them for this year’s National Championship.
The Two other HOP boxers are also through to the next round of the championships by walkovers Louis Mitchell and Tilly Hymers respectfully.
