Ed Murison with Coach Colin WilliamsHeart of Portsmouth Boxing Academy (HOP) was celebrating this weekend after Edward Murrison won the Southern Counties Title U10 bts at Eastleigh on Saturday 5th November 2011. Before reaching the Regional Final Murrison had to deal with the tough David Berry (Titchfield ABC) as a Hampshire county championship bout (67kg). Berry’s swarming, hooking style did not faze, Murison as he stuck to his game plan of block and counter to rack up a convincing points win, scoring with accurate and hurtful punches, as Berry eye began to swell after the first round. Murrison put on a great performance to unanimously outpoint Titchfield ABC boxer David Berry.

In the final Murrison faced another tough customer Hussain Wahid, (Brighton & Hove ABC) After three hard fought rounds Murrison got the decision on points which now puts him forward to the Senior Novice National quarter final stages.

H.O.P Lightweight boxer Terry Singh had a very close bout with Louis Herbert – (Ramsgate ABC ), both boxers gave their all, with Herbert getting a very close points decision.

H.O.P Senior Boxers Head Coach Colin Williams was very proud of Murison’s performance and commented, “Ed deserves all what he has achieved, he is a very dedicated young man to his sport”. Terry Singh did very well; it was a very well matched bout. He was unlucky not to get the decision.

H.O.P’s Harringey Cup Gold Medalist Heavyweight (91kg) Greg Bridet also moves forward to the next round on a walkover.
