Who, when opportunity knocked, delivered a sensational win to pick up the England belt Title Holder.
A call was made on Wednesday 12th October to HOP head coach Q Shillingford, explaining that one of the boxers for a England Title Belt contest had pulled out due to injury at a Night of Champions event in the Dome in Doncaster taking place on Friday 14th October 2016.
Leaving the Shelby Boxing Club – boxer – Amy Bullock without an opponent to compete against for the England Title Belt.
17 yr old, Taylor Smith who lives in Roman Way, Leigh Park with only two day notice excepted the challenge and travelled up to Doncaster on the Friday afternoon with her mum and dad.
Taylor had it all to do against an opponent who had been training for her title belt for weeks.
In the first round Taylor made her straight punches count, switching from head to body and made good use of her jab.
In the second round both boxers had good exchanges which drew warm applause from the crowd.
The third round Taylor opponent knowing her belt was slipping away piled on the pressure as Taylor withstood the storm.
In the last round with the bout very close, Taylor increased the pressure to win by a Split decision of the judges and making her the England Title Belt reigning champion.
Taylor will now have to defend the belt to against any challenges at her weight and category. Taylor is now also preparing for the national youth championships Which are coming up soon.

Taylor is a very committed boxer, training most evenings in the gym and weekends. Taylor is a great role model, to other young people in the gym.We can expect great things from this young lady.”
